The original Plan 9 was an IT outsourcing company headquartered in Seattle, WA during the early development of consumer desktops and the Internet in the late 80’s and 90’s. Originally building SCADA and MRP systems on terminal based UNIX system, Plan 9 moved to the consumer space in the mid-90’s which meant learning consumer behavior and platforms.
Plan 9 worked with both large companies, like Microsoft, and small companies over the years building early retail web sites, enterprise planning tools connected to SAP or Oracle, and even backend credit-card and mobile payment systems. We understand the different development processes and platforms needed when targeting consumers, businesses, social technology, or enterprise solutions.
Plan 9’s core competency is building technology from idea origination all the way to incremental releases and eventual sun setting the technology and we’ve been part of the market as it has changed from classic IT governance to today’s popular agile development processes.
